Edmodo.com is a new Internet-based social media platform for teachers to communicate to students and vice-versa. Teachers can post assignments, PDF files, Powerpoint presentations, videos, and Internet links for students.
With an Edmodo app (available on both Apple and Android systems), as soon as I post a message or make a resource available online (video lecture, reading assignment, or general reminder) through Edmodo, the students are immediately alerted that a critical message has been sent. Students can then, on their own time, review the information. If students do not wish to load the free Apple or Android app, or if they do not have smartphone or tablet hardware, they may simply check Edmodo.com on a daily basis. There will be days, however, where no new content has been added.
All important communication will be conducted through Edmodo. Weekly lessons and assignments will be communicated through Edmodo.
All students must create an Edmodo account, and they must check it daily for updates. This is absolutely critical and essential for success in my class.

Edmodo Accounts for Parents: The code that I am posting is for students only. Parents may have access to the same information, but they must establish a special parent account. As soon as a student signs up on Edmodo, a unique parent code is generated for that particular student. After your child enrolls in Edmodo, please contact me at [email protected] to receive your parent code. I will personally e-mail you the unique parent code for your child's account. The parent code is only available to the teacher, and it is not available through the website. The parent account will enable you to see everything the student has access to, but it will block you from posting on the website itself. If a parent inadvertently creates a student account, this account will be deleted. This restricted parent account feature is important as parent comments should be reserved for private parent-teacher communications.
The following information comes from Edmodo.com: Edmodo is a secure, social learning platform for teachers, students, schools and districts. We provide a safe and easy way for your class to connect and collaborate, share content and access homework, grades and school notices. Our goal is to help educators harness the power of social media to customize the classroom for each and every learner.
Before a student can create an Edmodo account, they will need a 6-digit group code from their teacher. Once they have their group code, they can visit Edmodo.com and select the “I’m a student” button. From here they can enter the group code provided by their teacher, complete the registration form and select “Sign up”.
Note: Students are not required to enter an email address to create an Edmodo account.
Edmodo is free for all teachers, students, schools and districts.
